8 Best Fish Tanks with Cabinets: Our Top Aquarium & Cabinet Sets

8 Best Fish Tanks with Cabinets: Our Top Aquarium & Cabinet Sets

Laura Jarilo |

Despite opening in 1965 and becoming one of the largest aquatic stores, Water World remains a family-run business today. We aim to provide genuinely useful advice and guides to all of our customers, both in-store and online.

With many customers currently looking at large fish tanks and cabinets, we've pulled together the top fish tanks with cabinets our customers buy and love.

A matching cabinet doesn't just look better than a bare tank on a table - it's built to safely take the weight of a full aquarium, and it hides your filter, heater, and cables completely out of sight.

Our Quick Top Picks

Best value: Aqua One OakStyle 110 Aquarium & Cabinet

Best performance: Fluval Roma 240 Bluetooth LED Aquarium & Cabinet Set

Best statement piece: Fluval Shaker 345 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet

1. Fluval Shaker 345 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet

The Fluval Shaker 345 L Aquarium and Cabinet is the largest fish tank with cabinet in this guide. This style of aquarium cupboard brings Shaker-style furniture design to the aquarium world: soft-close panelled cabinet doors, brushed metal hardware, and joinery that looks completely at home.

Inside, you get a full Fluval technology package. Key features include Bluetooth LED lighting controlled via the FluvalSmart app, a Fluval 07-series performance canister filter, and a premium Italian-made Fluval M Series heater. Available in Hampshire Oak or Slate Grey, this large fish tank and cabinet creates a stunning focal point.

Best for: anyone who wants a genuine furniture centrepiece as the quintessential large fish tank with solid wood cabinet.

2. Fluval Shaker 252 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet

The mid-size Fluval Shaker set carries all the same design details and technology as the 345L above - internal cabinet shelving, a built-in drawer, and app-controlled lighting - in a more room-friendly footprint. It's this sweet spot that makes the Fluval Shaker 252 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet our best selling set.

As more and more customers are looking for fish tanks over 150l, this is a great option without choosing an aquarium cabinet that overpowers a smaller space.

Best for: living rooms where a 345L would dominate the space, but a bare tank on a stand won't cut it.

3. Fluval Shaker 168 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet

The Fluval Shaker 168 Litre Aquarium & Cabinet is our smallest yet joint most popular aquarium and cabinet. With premium craftsmanship, ready-to-run aquarium setup, and relatively space-saving design for a fish tank over 150l, it offers the perfect balance of style, practicality, and functionality.

You get the same soft-close doors, raised cabinet edging (which helps conceal the gravel line for a cleaner look), and full Fluval filtration, lighting and heating package, just in a more compact 168-litre tank.

Best for: smaller rooms or first-time buyers who want the Shaker design without the largest price tag.

4. Aqua One OakStyle 230 Aquarium & Cabinet

Aqua One fish tanks are one of our customers’ most popular requests, and the OakStyle range has become the fastest selling aquarium in Aqua One history. With this popularity comes demand, meaning that the full range can be hard to come by, but when available, it’s a great choice for anyone looking for a stylish, practical aquarium

The Aqua One OakStyle 230 range is extremely popular here at Water World Direct. Available in a range of colourways and finishes, it also comes complete with an internal/external filter, LED lighting, and a heater for tropical setups - everything included, nothing extra to buy.

The spacious 230l fish tank is kept clean by the powerful and hugely effective Ocellaris canister filter. The aquarium cabinet itself is practical, with plenty of storage space, and offers a modern look. Choose between a classic Oak cabinet, or a rustic industrial style.

Popular colours and styles are the Aqua One OakStyle 230 Original Oak Aquarium & Cabinet, AquaOne OakStyle 230 Urban Grey Aquarium & Cabinet, and AquaOne OakStyle 230 Yorkshire Oak Aquarium & Cabinet.

This easy and compact fish tank unit comes complete with the powerful Ocellaris canister filter, efficient LED lighting, and a heater.

Best for: smaller homes and spaces where you want a stylish aquarium without compromising on equipment or quality.

6. Aqua One OakStyle 145 Original Oak Aquarium & Cabinet

The Aqua One OakStyle 145 sits neatly between the compact 110 and larger 230, offering a little more space without moving into the larger footprint of a 200L+ aquarium.

This 145L aquarium still combines the OakStyle range's furniture-inspired design and everything you need for a complete setup. It comes with an Ocellaris 850 filter, LED lighting, and a 200W heater for tropical setups, so there's no need to purchase the key equipment separately.

Its popular style appeals to interior-conscious fish keepers; its traditional shaker style includes plenty of storage whilst supporting its mid-sized 145 litre fish tank. It's an easy and complete, plug-and-play tropical or coldwater setup that doubles as stylish living room furniture.

Best for: customers who find the 110 too small but the 230 too large, and homes where the aquarium needs to feel like part of the furniture.

8. Aqua One AquaVogue 135 Aquarium & Cabinet

If you want an aquarium that feels more like a feature piece than simply a fish tank, but whilst staying under 150l, the Aqua One AquaVogue 135 is well worth considering. Its standout LED lighting gives you much more control over the look and atmosphere of your aquarium, whist the fish tank and cabinet still offers high performance.

The LED system is where the AquaVogue really sets itself apart. With white, RGB and blue moonlight settings, you can change the appearance of the aquarium throughout the day, from bright and natural during the day to a softer blue glow in the evening. The built-in digital timer and easy controls make it simple to create a lighting routine that suits your fish and your home.

With the Aqua One AquaVogue 135 Aquarium & Cabinet at Water World, you have the option to choose your cabinet colour as well as aquarium colour. Filtration and heating can be tailored to your setup too, with compatible internal and external filter options available separately.

Best for: budget-conscious fish keepers who want a contemporary aquarium that can change the look and feel of a room.

How to choose the right aquarium and cabinet set

Choosing the right aquarium and cabinet set comes down to three things: size, style, and how complete you want your setup to be.

Which aquarium cabinet finish should I choose?

Think about the furniture already in your room. Original Oak and Yorkshire Oak work particularly well with traditional or country-style interiors, while Urban Grey, Industrial Concrete and other darker finishes suit more contemporary or industrial spaces.

What size fish tank with cabinet do I need?

As a rough guide:

  • Under 150 litres — a good choice for smaller rooms, first-time fish keepers or anyone looking for a more compact setup. The Aqua One OakStyle 110, OakStyle 145 and AquaVogue 135 all sit within this range.

  • 150–250 litres — the sweet spot for many homes, offering significantly more swimming space while still being manageable in a standard living room. Our Fluval Shaker 168, Fluval Roma 240 and Aqua One OakStyle 230 are all strong options.

  • 250 litres+ — best suited to larger rooms where the aquarium can become a genuine focal point. The Fluval Shaker 345 is the largest set in our guide and makes a real statement.

Do I need an aquarium cabinet, or will a stand do?

A matching cabinet does more than complete the look of your aquarium. It provides a purpose-built base designed to support the weight of a full tank, while keeping filters, heaters, cables and other equipment hidden from view. Most also provide useful storage for fish food, nets, treatments and maintenance equipment.

Tropical or coldwater?

If you're planning a tropical aquarium, you'll need a suitable heater alongside your filtration and lighting. Several of the sets above include a heater as standard, making them particularly convenient for a ready-to-run tropical setup.

If you're keeping coldwater fish, a heater may not be necessary, but filtration and appropriate lighting will still be important.
